Risk Management Analyst - Finance Department

Position Information FTE: 1.0 Full Time/ 80 hours per pay Exempt: Yes Day Shift: Hours per schedule Weekend & Holiday Rotation: Per schedule Pay Grade: 13 Position Summary Summary: This position is responsible for the review, investigation, response/recommendations on various risk management and compliance issues including regulations, professional liability and workers compensation claims, risk management data collection, and software. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL: Responsibilities: (25%)* Respond/recommend after review and investigation various issues special projects, concerns, questions, and requirements from a risk management and/or regulatory compliance standpoint including audits. (25%)* Regularly collect data, compile and analyze for projects including professional/general liability and workers compensation issues, loss prevention, and exposure. (25%)* Act as the risk management software administrator for the department, including operational issues and trouble shooting, training, and security officer. (25%)* Procurement of commercial insurance and preparation of data for insurance and actuarial purposes. Includes annually updating property schedule, workers compensation and professional/general liability actuary data, Caymich data and audit information. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Submit automobile and property claims to insurance companies- collect and verify data, prepare claims, negotiate with insurance adjustors. Maintain employed physician listing, including dates of coverage, and provide this information and loss history upon authorized request from managed care organizations, etc. Maintain vehicle inventory. Provide information for tax returns. Maintain list of drivers. Draft policies and procedures as appropriate for department implementation. Quarterly prepare system professional/general liability loss history and reconcile professional/general liability trust fund. As requested, usually quarterly and annually, compile data for reporting purposes, including preparation of graphs and charts. Represent the department and be an active participant on various system and medical center committees, including Corporate Compliance Task Force. This includes performing audits and audit reports, and writing policies. Miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Essential:* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required.* Knowledge of Risk Management software and of Healthcare Risk Management processes preferred.* Investigational skills, capability of understanding regulatory issues and language preferred.* Course work in insurance, claims management, and/or legal and regulatory issues preferred. Other information: EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Ability to keep in confidence information gained in performance of job duties Intermediate knowledge of personal computer Microsoft software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet required Communicate successfully with individuals/groups, interact with people at all levels, both internally and externally, in clear and understandable manner, organizational and analytical skills needed to complete responsibilities and projects in an independent manner are required. Math skills- ability to understand and create formulas, ability to understand and create spreadsheets; ability to verify report data, invoice amounts, insurance company payments. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
