Job Description:
Summary GENERAL SUMMARY: Oversees all aspects of a project using
planning, monitoring, and controlling processes. Coordinates and
completes projects performing a variety of tasks, including setting
deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and
summarizing project progress. Requires day-to-day management of
project team personnel, communication with key stakeholders, and
subject matter experts to ensure successful project execution.
Responsible for managing one or more Information Technology
projects, following all project management standards as set forth
by the MyMichigan Health Information Technology Program Management
office. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (30%)*Provides
hands-on project management and actively manages project plan,
deliverables, dependencies, and outcome for selected project(s) as
approved by senior management and key stakeholders. The PM will
partner closely with IT and business stakeholders, collaborating on
project planning, execution and delivery. (20%)*Ensures that
project goals and objectives are achieved within the project
timeframe and guidelines established by the relevant stakeholders
and management committees. (20)*Interfaces with all areas involved
in the project including end users, services organizations, vendors
and implementation partners. Projects can include 3rd party vendor
management and leading/coordinating activities of consultants and
contractors. Creation of RFP's and contract review for any 3rd
party applications. (10%)*Identifies and manages project risks to
ensure time, cost and quality meet business expectations.
(20%)*Prepares communication plan and related project status
reports to key stakeholders and governance bodies (as appropriate)
to provide project updates on activities and deliverables, as well
as risks and mitigation strategies. OTHER DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Identifies and manages overall project
dependencies and ensures project deliverables stay on time, on
target, and on budget. Defines and determines the role of project
management in each project, including specific roles and
responsibilities for each project member. Engaging and partnering
with the company business units to understand their business
requirements and ensure the project teams are focused on and
executing to those requirements. Coordinate with change management
processes for resource impacts associated with projects and
developments as project evolves. Provides coverage for Test Analyst
testing activities when needed. Acts as a backup to the Sr. Project
Manager such as facilitation of the bi-weekly PMO meeting, monthly
updates to Executive status report for major IT projects, and other
duties as assigned by the Sr. Project Manager. CERTIFICATIONS AND
LICENSURES REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a
healthcare-related, information technology, or business field is
required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
preferred. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Minimum five to seven
years Project Management experience on IT projects required
managing IT and Clinical software implementations. Prior experience
with Microsoft Project and project management methodologies using
industry standard tools and techniques is required. Excellent
analytical and organizational skills, including the proven ability
to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple
projects. The proven ability to manage key stakeholder interests in
an ambivalent culture while at the same time managing conflicting
priorities and business interests. This role requires a strong,
collaborative communicator with technical knowledge around IT
solutions, ITIL and/or Capability Maturity Model Integration
(CMMI), and an ability to lead varying experience levels of project
teams. Demonstrated leadership qualities such as conflict/issue
resolution. Ability to communicate (verbally and written)
effectively with clients, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
Excellent time management skills. Ability to organize and work
effectively with project teams of staff from department and clients
participating in this effort. Experience with healthcare industry
software desired (clinical or finance) such as Epic, Infor
(Lawson), OnBase, etc. preferred. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations,
including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief
and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes
latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your
position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an
assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the
job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing
is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently
required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require
frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially
infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne
pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple
tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and
predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity
is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and
feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to
frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to
occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
