Summary General Summary The council chiefs are senior physicians or advanced practice providers (APPs) with leadership and/or management experience, preferably master's trained or working toward a master's degree in appropriate domain for the role. The council chief is a highly competent and experienced clinician, with at least 7-10 years of active and successful clinical practice, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills. The role has substantial operations and strategic components, and is performed in tandem with MidMichigan Physicians Group administrative/executive colleague/dyad. The council chiefs provide direction and support to the physician leads, APP leads, and all Physician Enterprise practices in guiding performance. The council chief communicates goals, objectives, and practice data with the physician leads, APP leads and their dyads regularly. The council chief will conduct annual performance reviews of the physician or APP leads and submit to the senior council chief. The council chiefs will provide substantial input and support to MidMichigan Physicians Group's Executive Team, especially as it relates to internal and external health system integration, projections, capabilities, goals and program development. The council chiefs will be involved in the development and implementation of broad strategic goals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Supervises and assists physicians and/or APPs in addressing questions and problems significantly impacting patient care, processes, teamwork, professionalism, communication, quality, risk, patient satisfaction, complaints, management of EHR, timeliness and quality of documentation, access and visit volume, provider/employee interactions, billing, coding, and safety. A critical component is the careful assessment of the reported situation before attempting to address and problem solve. Proper documentation of assessment, decision, outcomes and observations, when relevant, is extremely important. Collaboration with Human Resource professionals and/or Executive Team dyad member is often warranted. Promotes team building using effective communication skills. Develops and implements important system-wide initiatives to assigned practices and physician and/or APP leads. Accordingly ensures development of practice and service line specific strategic plans that are relevant, dynamic, and reviewed and refined annually. Oversight of and responsibility for quality and quality improvement of assigned practices. Communicates important or critical items and issues to MidMichigan Physicians Group leadership through appropriate channels and reporting relationships. Reviews assigned practice financial reports, revenue cycle and effectively communicate with providers and care teams on achievement of targets for budget, goals, and incentives. Conducts performance reviews along with physician and/or APP leads. Develops and maintains mentorship programs for new physician and/or APP hires. Engages directly and significantly in recruitment and retention efforts. Keeps clinical and management skills current with ongoing educational programs and opportunities. Develops service standards for assigned practices. Ensures that clinical protocols are regularly and properly reviewed. Provides input to ensure readiness and preparation for all relevant accreditation activities, convey importance of accreditation success to all providers and team members. Represents MidMichigan Physicians Group leadership for assigned practices as needed with outside/community members. Attends regular and as needed meetings with MidMichigan Physicians Group Board of Directors, Executive Team, leadership teams, physician leads, APP leads and senior council chief. Participates in the development, review, and compliance of policies and procedures of MidMichigan Health. Communicates effectively and regularly with the senior council chief. Facilitates sharing of best practices horizontally and vertically in assigned practices and within the Physician Enterprise. Fosters and encourages participation in educating all learners in the health professions, especially related to inter-professional education experiences, leading by example. Participates as an active member of the MPG Professional Practice Evaluation Committee (MPG PPEC).
