Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours (6am to 4:30pm or 6:30am to 5pm) / On Call 1-2 Nights Per Week Experience: 3 Years Required, Open Heart Experience Required, Travel Experience Required License: State License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Work History - Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty - 2 Supervisory Reference Forms, taken within the last two years - Permanent Address (50-mile radius restriction) Description: This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure. Maintains patient safety throughout the process. The RN outlines individual care plans, implements, evaluates, and documents care of patients during surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the operating room team. Communicates with the patient and family, operating room team, supervisor, manager, and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education. Responsibilities: Assesses the needs of the surgical patient and develops a plan of care specific to that patient. Implements and evaluates the plan of care during the procedure and makes necessary adjustments, keeping patient safety a priority. Supervises activity in the room. Anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes for the room. Assembles equipment and supplies. Assists anesthesia as necessary. Monitors sterile field. Communicates with patient, family, physician, operating room team, supervisor/manager, and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development by attending in-services, educational meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings/seminars for educational opportunity along with leadership and growth opportunity.
