Shift: Days, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (10 hours/day) - Call Nights: 1–2
per week - Weekend: Every Third Weekend - Guaranteed Hours: 40
Position Overview This individual fills the role of surgical
technologist in the Operating Room. The Surgical Technologist
demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures, ensures all supplies
and equipment are available and functioning, confirms and assembles
sterile instruments correctly, anticipates surgeon needs, and
maintains the sterile field. They are also responsible for keeping
accurate counts of medications, sharps, instruments, and sponges.
Responsibilities - 30%: Demonstrates knowledge of surgical
procedures, problem-solves during procedures, verifies physician
preference card items, ensures accurate billing. - 30%: Properly
assembles and uses equipment, disposables, and instruments; ensures
equipment is working correctly. - 30%: Maintains sterile
environment; monitors the sterile field and recognizes breaks in
technique. - 10%: Sets up sterile field in a timely manner;
maintains accurate counts of medications, sponges, instruments, and
sharps per policy. Requirements - 5 years of surgical tech
experience – Required - Open Heart experience – Required - BLS
(AHA) and NBSTSA – Required - Tertiary care center and/or Level I
or II trauma center experience – Required - Travel experience –
