Surgical Tech Location: Grand Rapids, MI Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,221 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Surgical Technologist - First Assist Profession: Surgical Technologist Specialty: Agency Staff Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certifications: - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Surgical Technology First Assist (STFA) Must-Have: - Experience working with GYN and Breast care preferred Description: The Surgical Technologist maintains responsibility for preparation of the surgical suite. They handle instruments during surgical procedures and maintain the sterile field. They evaluate changing conditions during the surgical procedures and respond appropriately. They are responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures. This position may serve as a Preceptor. Education Requirement: An Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited School of Surgical Technology is required. Experience Requirement: Able to work effectively and efficiently as a member of a team. Aptitude for working with high-tech equipment is required. Attention to detail is essential. Intact sight and hearing are mandatory. Eye/hand coordination is required, especially when loading and cutting sutures and handling instruments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills, are necessary. Time management and organizational skills are essential. Must be self-directed and able to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem-solving skills are required. Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage high volumes with multiple interruptions is necessary. Maintaining the strictest levels of confidentiality is required. Ability to listen to others is important. Competency in using various computer hardware and software systems is required. Essential Functions: Provides sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure. Performs surgical sponge, needle, and instrument counts. Creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment. Prepares case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments, and medications for each surgical case. Assists in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintains protective positions throughout the case. Works proactively with physicians to submit preference card changes. Suggests instrument set changes and collaborates on identifying instrument sets that need attention. Actively engages in case costing and discusses product usage with surgeons. Participates in safety initiatives and completes all position and unit safety-related requirements on time. Performs other duties as assigned.
