Job Description:
Summary GENERAL SUMMARY: Review and provide coverage for
designated shifts and units as needed, based on staffing
guidelines. Process all vacation slips, trade slips, and staffing
changes. Adjustments are recorded in the computer and on the master
and daily schedules. Coordinate appropriate disposition and
documentation of all expired patients. Obtain and deliver medical
records, general stores, and/or supplies as needed. Help maintain
schedule changes in MyTimeSelect by posting and awarding open
shifts if necessary. Assist MyTimeSelect Coordinator by responding
to basic employee inquiries, making ShiftRewards adjustments, and
other additional duties as necessary.
(50%)* Provide staffing coverage for designated shifts and units as
needed, based on acuity staffing guidelines. Make appropriate
telephone calls on a regular basis. (30%)* Process actual staffing
changes marked on the daily and master schedules to the computer,
utilizing appropriate scheduling systems on a regular basis. (20%)*
Help to post and award open shifts for last minute schedule changes
for any department in MyTimeSelect. OTHER DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Process vacation and trade skips in the computer
and on master and daily schedule on an occasional basis. Coordinate
appropriate disposition and documentation of all expired patients
on an occasional basis. Obtain and deliver medical records, general
stores, and/or supplies as needed on an occasional basis. Assist
MyTimeSelect Coordinator with basic employee phone calls and
emails. Perform additional basic MyTimeSelect duties as necessary.
All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: High School
Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in secretarial services
preferred. PC proficiency and good organizational and people skills
required. MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and
employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows. An
employee may be required to participate in further learning
opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health. One-year hospital
secretarial and medical experience preferred. Completion of a
Medical terminology course preferred. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations,
including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief
and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes
latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your
position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an
assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the
job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing
is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently
required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require
frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially
infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne
pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple
tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and
predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity
is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and
feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to
frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to
occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
