The Office of Tax Counsel is integrally involved in Global Tax Planning, Controversy, Mergers & Acquisitions, and provides tax counsel to Dows businesses and other functions. This position reports directly to the Chief Tax Officer.Responsibilities:

• Key member of the Global Tax Leadership Team
• Oversee U.S. tax attorneys with functional connectivity to regional teams
• Engage with and support the Tax Planning team on initiatives to optimize the global tax rate
• Collaborate with the Tax Controversy team on the overall tax audit, controversy and risk management strategy; provide support and counsel on material audit and litigation matters
• Manage the tax legal entity structure and support M&A transactions, acting as a key advisor for proposed transactions
• Act as the strategic business partner to one or more of Dows global businesses
• Provide tax counsel to other functions both within and outside of Finance
• Actively engage in U.S. tax advocacy with Dow's Government Affairs functionRequired Qualifications:
  • A Juris Doctor degree is required and a Master of Law in Taxation (LLM) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
  • At least 15 years of combined experience with a law firm or Big 4 accounting firm as well as within the Tax function of a medium-to-large, publicly-traded, US multinational manufacturing company
  • Broad leadership experience, including leading global or large teams and managing large projects and/or processes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively translate complex technical issues for executive management's understanding and decision making
  • Collaborative and influential individual and advisor who can effectively operate within a dynamic, changing company and organization
  • Experience with multiple facets of tax including planning, compliance, and accounting on a multinational level with an emphasis on transfer pricing, extensive knowledge of corporate tax law and mergers & acquisitions
  • Experience with ASC 740 with the ability to identify, analyze, and conclude on the financial impact of tax risks, the adequacy of tax reserves, and related financial reporting consequences
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
