Job Description The DuPont Water Solutions business is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as Operations Leader at the Midland, Michigan site. The Operations Leader position has accountability for production performance relating to the Anion, Cation, and Special Resins processes within Ion Exchange Resins. The Area Manager will be responsible for leading an organization of approximately 33 people in high hazard production areas. This position requires a multiple range of management and technical skills and a thorough understanding of plant systems, processes, policies and procedures. The Midland Ion Exchange Resins Unit is a part of Michigan Operations, one of DuPont's largest sites and home to manufacturing operations representing each of DuPont's 3-businesses. As part of DuPont's Water and Protection portfolio, the Water Solutions business provides purification and separations technology into multiple market channels. Ion Exchange Resins are primarily used for water purification, food & beverage processing, and pharmaceuticals manufacturing. These resins are also heavily used in power generation facilities that supply electrical power to consumers around the world. Responsibilities: * Provides leadership on Core Value performance, including compliance to DuPont Standards, Process Safety Management (PSM) standards, Environmental regulations, OSHA regulations and area/site EH&S policies. * Creates and maintains a respectful work environment and maintains DuPont's core values around ethics. * Drives accountability in Line Organization and possesses strong sense of ownership. * Sets high standards for Operational Discipline and leads the organization to drive incident investigations to root cause and completion in a timely manner. * Provides leadership and daily direction for the areas including daily production execution to plan. * Develops and leads implementation of future state strategic direction for Operations. * Provides functional guidance to support teams for meeting cost, yield and quality requirements. * Works collaboratively with Run Plant Engineers and Quality function to provide leadership to the organization in producing materials that meet customer quality and supply requirements. * Works effectively with Maintenance Leader to accomplish safe execution of daily maintenance tasks and area shutdowns. * Coaches and develops direct reports and cultivates an atmosphere of learning and development in the broader Midland Water Solutions Team. * Works collaboratively with S&C business personnel, including Supply Chain, Product Line, Commercial, R&D and TS&D. * Supports Midland site improvement initiatives through leadership and participation on site teams. * Demonstrates leadership with strong field presence and engaging with others * Act as primary back-up to the Unit Manager for Midland Water Solutions * Part of plant and site on-call rotation. Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering. Chemical Engineering is preferred. * At least 5-10 years of industrial/manufacturing plant experience * Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of Process Safety Management, including Higher Hazard Process experience * Experience with safety systems including safety improvement processes, audits and developing safe behaviors * Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve or help others solve equipment and/or process issues * Demonstrated knowledge and skills for coaching and developing others * Demonstrated ability to function at both tactical and strategic levels * Demonstrated effective communication skills * Demonstrated understanding and commitment around operational discipline * Demonstrated teambuilding and consensus building experience * Demonstrated influential leadership skills in previous areas of responsibility * Demonstrated personal behavior that models and drives accountability for maintaining DuPont Core Values * Demonstrated experience in setting and maintaining data metrics to drive decision making and improvement * Demonstrated leadership of root cause investigations Preferred Skills and Experience: * Chemical manufacturing experience, including Line Leadership * Lean Management or Six Sigma certification * Experience in building higher performing empowered work teams * Knowledge of DuPont and OSHA standards and regulations, including High Hazard Processes * Experience with Aspen IP21, ABB 800xA, SAP, and VBA are strong assets, but training will be provided.
