Summary General Summary: MyMichigan Health Foundation is seeking a qualified grant specialist to join our team. MyMichigan Health Foundation is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to enhance and reinforce the core focus areas of MyMichigan Health by raising funds and public support, and by funding MyMichigan Health services, programs, and initiatives. The grant specialist will be responsible for grant research, as well as drafting, and administering the entire portfolio of grants throughout the grant cycle. This position will enter, monitor and is responsible for all required documentation and grant updates as determined necessary by the grant funding organization. MyMichigan Health Foundation team members generally work 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, but we do offer flexible scheduling and we would consider remote or a part-time remote work schedule. All team members are required to work evenings or weekends to support special events or to meet project deadlines, but most generally these dates are known well in advance. Benefits are provided through the MyMichigan Health benefit program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (25%)* Grant Seeking: Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requirements for proposals and attending strategy meetings for all service lines and various departments throughout the health system and across the entire MyMichigan Health service area. Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for all new grant support and grant requests. Explores grant funding opportunities through research and relationships with grant funders and provides clinical and program staff with visibility to and guidance on potential funding opportunities. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and by maintaining personal and professional networks. (25%)* Grant Writing: Prepares grant proposals by determining concepts, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals. Gathers grant proposal information from managers and directors throughout the health system. Identifies sources of data and information, coordinates submissions and collections, and verifies data back to data source. Responsible for identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals. Develops grant proposals by assembling information including project nature, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation. Writes and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials. Prepares grant presentations by evaluating text, graphics, binding, for printing or electronic submission. Meets proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval and transmittal. (25%)*Grant Maintenance: Maintains quality results by using templates, following MyMichigan Health writing style guide including readability, consistency, and tone; maintains proposal support databases and obtains all necessary approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers, project managers and executives. Tracks and reports regularly all grants submitted, approvals received, denials received and outstanding requests. Improves proposal writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination and the boilerplate information for the Foundation and for the health system. (25%)* Grant Tracking: Responsible for submitting all required documentation to grant funders and maintain relationships over the course of the grant cycle. This will include monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, or final grant reports as deemed required by the grant funder. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Develops an overall annual strategic plan for his/her portfolio to deliberately advance relationships with current funders and develop new partnerships. Effectively balances multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely responses to foundation funding opportunities and accountability to current and potential funders. Required Education, Experience, Training, and Skills: Bachelor's degree in philanthropy, communications, marketing, business, or health care related field required. Grant writing experience and/or Master's degree in same or business field preferred. Presentation skills required. Extraordinary written communication skills. Technical documentation experience. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Must be deadline oriented. Have experience in process improvement. Experienced in planning, coordinating and execution of project related goals. Health system knowledge including the various service line offerings.
