Summary

Summary

The athletic trainer provides patient care in accordance with their Michigan medical license. The athletic trainer under direct supervision of the provider, will be responsible for patient assessment and care, and maintaining appropriate documentation. The athletic trainer will be responsible for coordinating care to assure high quality, compassionate patient care is provided. They will maintain and oversee patients at the office locations and will act as the liaison with other organizations and departments.

Essential Responsibilities

• Greets patients and/or family, performs routine pre-examination procedures including vital signs, assessing and recording objective and subjective data concerning presenting condition. Updates and maintains an accurate patient record by performing but not limited to, orders reconciliation, secure messaging (if available) and other tasks as assigned. Performs medication reconciliation, enters allergy reaction type, processes refills within the scope of their certification.
• Assists provider with examinations and procedures.
• Triages all calls, schedules daily urgent/emergent add-ons, receives and relays test results. Supports, directs and refers patients for consults and/or testing and insurance pre-certification and documentation
• Prepares and cleans the patient area, sets up equipment, cleans and facilitates room set up after a procedure. Disposes of contaminated supplies and sterilizes medical instruments.
• Completes daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Records and tracks daily activities at designated school.
• Provides patients with education material including HEP and assists with bracing/splinting/casting of orthopedic conditions. Educates patient/family/caregiver in home education program using relevant and effective teaching methods
  Required Certification and Licensure
  
  ATMichigan- MI Licensed Athletic Trainer
  
  BLS- Basic Life Support-must be certifed within 30 days of hire or transer
  
  Required Education
  
  Education: Bachelors Degree
  
  Comments: Graduated from an athletic training curriculum approved by the National Athletic Trainer's Association. Must obtain a fracture and casting certificate within 6 months of hire or transfer to this position.
