About you

Dow has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Research Scientist within Emulsions, Blends, & Powders Product Development in Dow Consumer Solutions with direct impact on a highly profitable and high growth innovation portfolio. The Emulsions, Blends, & Powders Product Development group utilizes fundamental understanding of interfacial, polymer, and colloid science to deliver innovative solutions that meet our customers application needs. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing, formulating, and testing new products across a broad range of industrial and consumer market segments working closely with our customers globally. Solid project management, cross-functional team collaboration skills, and previous commercialization experience are desired.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

Serve as subject matter expert or project leader on large multi-disciplinary project teams and platforms to collaborate, provide technical input and deliver results aligned with business objectives
Define and conduct research on key project areas using in-depth knowledge and proactive application of scientific principles, theory and experimental design
Consistently apply the Scientific Method in the planning and execution of experimental plans and problem solving. Formulate hypotheses and develop experimental plans to test hypotheses.
Scale-up, sample, and commercialize new products by working collaboratively with other groups, business partners, and functions
Collaborate with customers and business partners to identify and charter new projects
Utilize in-depth knowledge of business ambitions, goals, and strategies to define project concepts
Communicate and appropriately document work in the form of internal reports/presentations and external publications/presentations
Draft and submit patent disclosures
Deliver presentations and reports that distill complex ideas into clear results and proposals
Leverage Six Sigma tools and methodology to solve complex problems
Maintain safety as a top priority and advocate for adherence to safety policies and procedures. Lead team in promotion of best safety practices, habits, and behaviors.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor degree in a science or engineering discipline
5 or more years of relevant experience working in R&D
Passionate about developing new formulated products for Dow's customers
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams to drive projects to completion
Demonstrates significant involvement in designing studies, carrying out experiments, interpreting data, etc. to meet project milestones
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds
Strong personal skills including time management, self-direction and prioritization

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in a science or engineering discipline
Experience in Dow chemistry and work processes
Product development, scale-up and commercialization experience
Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
Strong technical network within the organization
Experience with Six Sigma, statistics, and design of experiments
