Summary GENERAL SUMMARY: The Senior Privacy Analyst is the
gatekeeper for corporate compliance and HIPAA privacy activities
for the health system. The individual works to ensure that
compliance and privacy activities adhere to the guidelines
established by CMS, HHS, and other oversight agencies that regulate
MyMichigan Health. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(50%)*Receives, investigates, and resolves compliance and privacy
inquiries and concerns reported through the compliance hotline,
compliance and privacy email boxes, RLSolutions, and any other
means. Prepares written reports summarizing compliance and privacy
investigations. Drafts and sends breach notification letters to
patients and reports breach events to governing agencies.
(20%)*Maintains FairWarning privacy monitoring system by
investigating alerts, corresponding with management, and
communicating or consulting with Human Resources, when applicable.
(10%)*Provides corporate compliance and privacy training to
employees, under the guidance and direction of the Director
Internal Audit CCO. Produces ideas of what can be done differently
to promote compliance and privacy throughout the health system.
Identifies areas of weakness and suggests ideas for improvement.
(10%)*Maintains open lines of communication with all members of the
organization, and services as a resource for addressing concerns
about compliance, privacy, and ethical questions for all of
MyMichigan Health. (10%)* Participates in the review, and revision
of Corporate Compliance and Privacy policies and procedures and
manuals, for submission to the Director Internal Audit CCO. OTHER
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors and tracks trends related to
investigations and inquiries, as well as key performance indicators
related to the effectiveness of the compliance and privacy program.
Coordinates with all levels of management, including the legal
team, and assists with improving internal controls capable of
preventing and detecting instances or patterns of actual or
potential misconduct. Serves as a role model for ethical behavior
and promotes an awareness and understanding of the Code of Conduct
and Corporate Compliance Program. Performs miscellaneous duties as
assigned such as: attends meetings, compiles meeting minutes,
special project analysis, and prepares compliance education. Stays
abreast of industry developments pertaining to compliance and
privacy. Verbally communicates investigation results to senior
management and drafts comprehensive and complete reports, when
applicable. Demonstrates ability to gather, analyze data and
communicate findings. Ability to 'take ownership' of projects from
start to finish, review peer work and provide feedback. REQUIRED
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree with three years or more experience in
healthcare compliance, privacy, administration, and/or health
systems/technology. Certifications in healthcare compliance and/or
health care privacy preferred. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Customer service oriented, strong interpersonal and team building
skills with a positive attitude. Strong knowledge of healthcare
compliance and HIPAA privacy principles, techniques and standards.
Effective written and oral communication skills and attention to
detail are essential. Excellent organizational and analytical
competencies, including proficiency in word processing and
spreadsheet applications; and the ability to manage multiple
projects at the same time and navigate competing priorities.
Ability to analyze systems and operations to determine the accuracy
of information, compliance with established policies, procedures,
regulations, and laws.
