Job Description:
Summary This position is responsible for the transportation of
patients, equipment, specimens, medical records and miscellaneous
items throughout the entire medical center campus. Employees are
responsible for dispatching and prioritizing runs. They transport
preoperative and postoperative patients to and from the operating
room. These employees keep track of their daily statistics and
finalize report at end of the month.
(50%)* Transport patients throughout the medical center including
occasional ones to Riecker Surgery Center, Campus Ridge or Women's
Center. Transports pre- and post-op patients to and from operating
room and PACU. Discharges patients. (25%)* Transports supplies,
equipment, specimens, medical records throughout the medical center
including Riecker Surgery Center. (25%)* Works as dispatcher and
prioritizes runs based on patient needs. Utilizes good
communication skills. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs
tasks on computer. Records daily and monthly stats. In the
performance of the regular job duties, it is appropriate for this
job code to have access to the medication room and supply room for
the purpose of stocking. Follows established safety procedures:
patient identification, safe transfers, prepares and maintains O2,
Follows universal precautions, assures transport devices are
cleaned between each transport, maintains confidentiality and
documents on medical record. MidMichigan Health is a technology

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS High School
Diploma or GED Required BLS Required Computer knowledge required.
Ability to communicate successfully with patients, family and staff
required. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the
Exposure Control Plan. Organizational skills/computer skills
required, ability to prioritize preferred. Quality customer service
skills required, excellent customer relation skills preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public
contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal
protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate
substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely
about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able
to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job
description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or
without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk
for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes
such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood
borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must
follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as
required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others,
work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability
to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling,
reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition
of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand
Level: Heavy. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday)
lift or carry 51-100 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 50
lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly
(67-100% of the workday) 20 lbs.
