---A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000.00 may be available for qualified external candidatesThe Sr Financial Accountant/Analyst can do any combination of the responsibilities for the Financial Accountant or the Financial Analyst role below.The Accountant role is responsible for the preparation, accuracy, completeness, and analysis of financial statements and related financial information including, but not limited to, reconciliations, tax returns, annual audits, budgets, projections, cost reports, fixed assets, and general ledger system maintenance and interfaces. Research and interpretation of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations is required to assure conformance in reporting.Assists MyMichigan Health Member organizations and provides management and other employees within the organization with financial analysis and information used for decision-making.The Analyst role assists with the support of the Decision Support System (EPSi) through the analysis and evaluation of the financial and operational performance of health system's members.Assist in the maintenance of the Decision Support System (EPSi) and the data interfaced to the system.Development of operating and capital budgets.Provide analytical support for special projects, development of long-range planning forecasts and other projects requested by members of Administration and Management Teams. Financial Accountant RolePrepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare and provide variance explanations of budgeted costs to actual costs.Assists with annual financial and pension audits and other external reporting requirements, including pro-forma financial statement preparation and consolidated reconciliations.Maintain fixed asset records including physical asset inventories and associated depreciation schedules to ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.Financial Analyst RoleMaintains expense units and budgeting man-hours of assigned departments during the budgeting process. Generates FTE and productivity reports and analysis on a monthly basis, including analysis by department and Line Officer. Accurate and timely reporting of monthly performance and productivity reports and/ or prepares financial statements to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Prepares and maintains fixed and variable budget databases based on Board-approved budget. Prepares cost analysis for other departments and strategic business units as requested with the time frames stated. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accounting Analyst RolePrepares monthly financial statements by gathering information from the general ledger and other sources.Prepares, enters, and documents general ledger entries and transactions.Ensures accurate and appropriate recording of revenues, expenses and balance sheet transactions.Reconciles general ledger accounts and resolves accounting discrepancies.Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy, GAAP, and regulations.Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending improvements.Prepares income tax returns and computes taxes owed ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.Financial Analyst RoleDemonstrates understanding of integrated system applications including relational databases. Collects, stores, retrieves and disseminated data, information or materials as directed.Identifies best practice for specific high volume, high risk, high cost DRG's,Builds tables and indicators to support clinical paths,Develops standard reports to support clinical path project leaders and strategic business unit leaders, and medical staff, andWorks with clinical path project leaders, strategic business unit leaders, and QRM staff to develop information flow to the medical staff and maintains information flow to teams andFunctions as a resource to staff in assisting them to maximize utilization of system applications.Provides ongoing clinical support and education for users,Provides ongoing support to medical and administrative leaders on their use of the decision support system particularly as it relates to patient care coordination, andParticipates in appropriate clinical committees ensuring that the decision support system meets system-wide analysis needs.Maintains and updates master file structures, tests programming changes and/or updates to the system.Assists in efforts to provide comprehensive medical and financial data to internal users.Facilitates the collection of accurate and complete data,Assures integrity of data is developed and maintained,Audits and consults with users to ensure data integrity, andDevelops written procedures and routinely audits decision support subsystems to ensure data integrity.Understands the decision support system financial structure as it impacts the patient database and assists financial team members with costs standards enhancements and operational procedures.Both Financial Accountant and Financial Analyst RolesTakes initiative to take on extra assignments or to assist others during periods of increased activity.MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft - Office.An employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:Bachelor's Degree, Accounting, Finance or Business related field required.Knowledge of cost accounting and general ledger and preparing financial statements as normally acquired through 3 years of experience working in a medical center or similar setting.Knowledge of data analysis interpretation, writing skills.Complete knowledge of Microsoft Suite required. Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills preferred.Experience with financial system, integrated financial decision support system with clinical components, strongly preferred.Ability to work in teams in collaborative manner.Creative, flexible, open to change, results-oriented, organized.Demonstrates critical thinking and ability to resolve problems.Strong understanding of statistical methods.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Ability to understand and apply current available databases to hospital practice patterns.Demonstrated ability of project management.Demonstrate a positive, courteous, and helpful attitude toward co-workers within and outside of the department.Tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done according to MIOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety Health Administration) standards.Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.Must follow MyMichigan Health blood-borne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level: Sedentary.Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
